2007 Fantasy Football – Injury Updates
by Chris Mooney
As you start preparing for your draft, just a few tidbits relating to football injuries:
The Dallas Morning News reports the Cowboys have said that WR Terrell Owens’ MRI came back negative. He has back spasms, but there’s no major problem.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports Falcons TE Alge Crumpler received an outside medical opinion on his arthroscopically repaired right knee last Friday and is expected to miss at least another week of practice.
And speaking of the Falcons, The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports Falcons RB Warrick Dunn (back surgery) has done a lot of running outside on a satellite practice field and he looks pretty good. There’s no reason to believe that he won’t be back by the start of the season, as he claims — unless the physical pounding is too much for him to immediately bear.
The Boston Herald reports the New England Patriots aren’t tipping their hand when it comes to WR Randy Moss. For the third practice in a row, HC Bill Belichick had his players in shorts for a walkthrough. Moss participated, but once again, it was tough to assess the state of his left hamstring, which he injured Wednesday. Moss missed both practices Thursday before resuming activity Friday. While he lined up and went through a bunch of plays, the top speed he reached was a full jog. That was it. By the same token, everyone else was pretty much going at half-speed as well. Moss was held out when the offense and defense scrimmaged. He also didn’t participate when the Pats practiced the Hail Mary pass.
In case anyone is wondering why RB Deuce McAllister didn’t play in the Hall of Fame game, HC Sean Payton said this week he wanted to limit the wear and tear on the veteran running back. McAllister is healthy.
As I get more info on injuries, I’ll post them.
