2007 Fantasy Football – Week 13 Sunday Morning Tidbits
by Chris Mooney
Check back throughout the morning for more up to the minute updates.
12:25: Dolphin RB Jesse Chatman is active, as expected.
12:24: Jet WR Laveranues Coles is active, Jerricho Cotchery is inactive. Justin McCareins will start for Cotchery.
12:19: The Rams will be without C Brett Romberg, KR Dante Hall, and DE James Hall. QB Marc Bulger is inactive.
12:18: Falcon TE Alge Crumpler is active.
12:17: 49er QB Alex Smith is inactive, Trent Dilfer starts.
12:15: Redskin WR Antwaan Randle El is inactive, as is FB Mike Sellers. Keenan McCardell has been announced as the starter. WR Santana Moss and RB Clinton Portis are active.
12:14: Bill RBs Marshawn Lynch and Anthony Thomas are inactive. Fred Jackson has been announced as the starter. DE Chris Kelsey is inactive.
12:12: In case you care, Jag WR Dennis Northcutt is active.
12:07: The Vikings will also be without CB Antoine Winfield, good news for the Lion passing game. It should be ugly to watch, but Detroit should put up numbers in the passing game today.
12:05: Viking RB Chester Taylor has been announced as the starter, which doesn’t mean all that much. Adrian Peterson is active. WR Robert Ferguson has also been announced as the starter for the inactive Troy Williamson, but we don’t think that matters much as well, since Sidney Rice should also see a lot of time.
12:01: Titan S Chris Hope is also inactive, which could help TE Owen Daniels.
12:02: Chief QB Brodie Croyle is inactive, as expected. Damon Huard starts.
12:00: Titan DT Albert Haynesworth is active, bad news for RB Ron Dayne and good news for the Titan running game, since LenDale White should be able to get up to or even more than 20 carries. It doesn’t help the Texan passing game, but they should have to throw it a ton.
11:58: Colt WR Marvin Harrison is inactive, as expected. Anthony Gonzalez starts for him. The Colts will also be without RT Ryan Diem.
11:45: Panther QB Vinny Testaverde is active, and get this: David Carr is inactive. Good news for WR Steve Smith.
Eagle QB Donovan McNabb (ankle/thumb) is expected to miss today’s game, with backup A.J. Feeley starting for the second straight week.
Buc QB Jeff Garcia (back) returned to practice on a limited basis Friday, so there is a chance he could play today. The value of WR Joey Galloway hinges on Garcia playing, but there is no way to know if he’ll go until after pre-game warm-ups, and they play at 4pm ET. We’ll have Garcia’s status online around 3:00-3:15pm ET. Luke McCown would start if Garcia can’t play. And as we wrote yesterday, the team was leaning toward keeping Garcia out and going with McCown.
Chief QB Brodie Croyle (back) missed practice again Friday and head coach Herman Edwards said Damon Huard will get the start today, which is good news for TE Tony Gonzalez.
Raider QB Daunte Culpepper (quad) is now questionable for today’s game. QB Josh McCown would start if Culpepper can’t play. The team isn’t saying who will start, but if it’s not Culpepper, it should be McCown. But no one would be shocked if Culpepper were out if JaMarcus Russell got in.
There was some definite concern about Eagle RB Brian Westbrook (knee) early in the week, but he’s all set to start today.
Bronco RBs Travis Henry (knee) and Selvin Young (knee) both practiced again on Friday and are ready to play on today. Henry says he’s about 80%, so they team will likely rotate the backs in some way. Henry is expected to start, and he should be motivated to do all he can do because there is no fear in Denver that the delay in the decision on his appeal is an ominous sign. Many in Denver feel today could be Henry’s last game of the season. Backup Andre Hall will not play, so it’s Henry and Young carrying the load.
Dolphin RB Jesse Chatman (ankle) was able to practice Friday and is expected to play today.
Giant RB Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) didn’t practice Friday and it will be RBs Derrick Ward (ankle/groin) and RB Reuben Droughnssplitting the carries. Keep in mind Ward was the starter over Droughns when he was healthy, and he’s simply a better player. Droughns has been used as a goal line back, however.
Buc RB Michael Pittman (ankle) was limited in practice all week and is very questionable for today’s game.
Cardinal WR Larry Fitzgerald (groin) will be a game-time decision due to the lingering effects of his groin injury. Fitzgerald said he feels better on Friday, but we’d have a replacement ready to plug in after the 1pm kickoffs, and backup WR Bryant Johnson would be the best option. If you have no other choice but to start him or use someone else by the 1pm kickoffs, you should use someone else if you have a good option because Fitzgerald is far from a lock to play.
Giant WR Plaxico Burress (ankle/knee) missed practice again Friday but coach Tom Coughlin said he expects Burress to play today. It’s a late kickoff, so we won’t know for sure until after 1pm.
Jet WR Laveranues Coles (ankle) was limited in practice again Friday, but he’s going to give it a shot in pre-game warm-ups. We’ll have this status online shortly after 12 pm ET. WR Jerricho Cotchery (finger) is out, with WR Justin McCareinslikely start for him. If Coles is out again, Brad Smith would also start.
Redskin WR Antwaan Randle El (hamstring) was limited in practice Friday and is a game time decision today. If Randle El is out, Keenan McCardell would likely start for him.
Colt WR Marvin Harrison (knee) did not practice all week and is not expected to play with WR Anthony Gonzalez would fill in again if Harrison can’t go.
Raven TE Todd Heap (hamstring) did not practice Friday and not expected to play on Monday. TE Quinn Sypniewski is expected to fill in.
Quarterbacks
Panther QB Vinny Testaverde (back) practiced again on Friday with no problems and is expected to start on Sunday unless he has a setback (as he did last week). He’s listed as probable.
Seahawk QB Matt Hasselbeck (hip) will start on Sunday against the Eagles. He’s listed as probable.
Lion QB Jon Kitna (knee) told the Detroit News Thursday that one of his knees is bothering him, but he will start on Sunday against the Vikings. He is on pace to be sacked 68 times this season after getting sacked a league-high 63 times last year. He’s not listed on the injury report.
49er QB Alex Smith (shoulder, forearm) is listed as doubtful so QB Trent Dilfer will start again for him.
Raider QB Daunte Culpepper (quad) is now questionable for Sunday’s game. QB Josh McCown would start if Culpepper can’t play. The team isn’t saying who will start, but if it’s not Culpepper, it should be McCown. Oddly, they don’t seem interested in giving JeMarcus Russell any playing time this year, which is pretty dumb even if he doesn’t know all of the offense.
Running Backs
· Viking RB Adrian Peterson (knee) is probable for Sunday’s game after practicing again on Friday. He said Thursday that he expects to play Sunday against the Lions after missing the last two games with a knee injury. Peterson said he is still adjusting to the brace on his knee. Head coach Brad Childress has said he will not carry a full load in his first game back, and he will share the carries with RB Chester Taylor.
· Saint RB Reggie Bush (shin) practiced Friday and isn’t listed on the injury report anymore, so he’s set to play. RB Pierre Thomas did not practice Friday because of a bruised kidney and is questionable to play.
· 49er RB Frank Gore (ankle) practiced Friday and is probable to play.
· Redskin RB Clinton Portis (back) was able to practice Friday and is probable for Sunday’s game. Redskin FB Mike Sellers (back) is likely out, with backup TE Todd Yoder expected to start for him.
· Giant RB Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) didn’t practice Friday and is doubtful to play. Backup RB Derrick Ward (ankle/groin) practiced all week and is probable for Sunday’s game. He’ll likely be sharing the carries with RB Reuben Droughns. When asked Friday if Ward would start, head coach Tom Coughlin, a wealth of information, said “we’ll see.” We do give Ward a good chance to collect more touches than Droughns.
· Raven RB Willis McGahee (ankle) was able to practice Friday and is probable for Monday night’s game.
· Buc RB Michael Pittman (ankle) was limited in practice all week and is questionable for Sunday’s game.
Bengal RB Kenny Watson (hip) practiced Friday and is probable for Sunday night’s game.
Patriot RB Kevin Faulk (thigh) was able to practice Friday and is set to go as he’s not listed on the injury report anymore.
Receivers
Brown WR Braylon Edwards (hamstring) was limited in practice Friday after missing practice Thursday but said he expects to start on Sunday against the Cardinals. He’s listed as questionable.
Colt WR Marvin Harrison (knee) did not practice all week and QB Peyton Manning said he is not counting on having him back in the lineup on Sunday against Jacksonville, the Indianapolis Star reports. Harrison is listed as questionable. WR Anthony Gonzalez would fill in again if Harrison can’t go.
Texan WR Andre Johnson (knee) was limited in practice all week because of soreness in his knee but is expected to start on Sunday, the Houston Chronicle reports. He’s listed as probable.
Bengal WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (back) practiced Thursday and Friday and is probable for Sunday night’s game.
Bronco WR Javon Walker (knee) practiced Friday and should have a bigger role this week after playing only eight snaps last week in his return from a knee injury. He’s listed as probable. WR Brandon Stokley (knee) practiced Friday and is expected to play, and he could still technically start the game over Walker.
Bear WR/KR Devin Hester (foot) was limited in practice this week but is probable for Sunday’s game.
Redskin WR Antwaan Randle El (hamstring) was limited in practice Friday and is questionable for Sunday’s game. WR Santana Moss (heel) was able to practice Friday and is probable for the game. Backup WR James Thrash (ankle) is still out, so WRs Keenan McCardell and Reche Caldwell have seen most of the reps in practice this week. If Randle El is out, McCardell would likely start for him.
Ram WR Torry Holt (knee) practiced Friday and is not listed on the injury report, so he’s set to play. WR/KR Dante Hall (ankle) is out.
Viking WR Troy Williamson (head) did not practice again Friday and is doubtful. WR Sidney Rice is set to fill in and start for him.
Jaguar WR Dennis Northcutt (foot) practiced Friday and is probable for Sunday’s game.
Falcon WR Joe Horn (hamstring/foot) practiced all week and is not listed on the injury report and is set to play.
Raven TE Todd Heap (hamstring) did not practice Friday and is still questionable for Monday night’s game. But there’s a better chance that he won’t be able to play, leaving TE Quinn Sypniewski to fill in.
