2007 Fantasy Football – Week 14 Sunday Morning Tidbits
by Chris Mooney
CHECK BACK TO THIS POST ON THE WEBSITE THROUGHOUT THE DAY FOR MORE UP TO THE MINUTE UPDATES.
3:15: Surprisingly, Jet WR Jerricho Cotchery is active, but it’s unclear if he will start. WR Laveranues Coles is active as expected.
3:14: Steeler S Troy Polamalu is inactive as expected.
3:13: Chief LB Donnie Edwards is active.
3:07: Bronco WR Javon Walker is a surprise inactive. WR Brandon Stokley is active. RBs Selvin Young and Andre Hall are active.
3:06: 49er WR Arnaz Battle is active.
3:03: Cardinal WR Larry Fitzgerald is active. WR Anquan Boldin is inactive, Bryant Johnson starts for him.
12:46: Late-word from Fox on the field: Giant WR Plaxico Burress left the field early during pre-game warm-ups. They’re not ruling him out, but he looks very limited, according to Fox. Burress is active.
12:42: All we have on the Cardinal WRs is that Larry Fitzgerald will probably try to play, and that Anquan Boldin will have a hard time going. We can’t guarantee anything, since they are game time decisions, but that’s what we have; Fitzgerald has a better than 50-50 chance to play and Boldin has less than that.
12:37: In case you were wondering, Buc WR Joey Galloway is active and in the starting lineup.
12:27: Bengal S Madieu Williams is inactive.
12:25: Lion LB Boss Bailey is inactive.
12:24: In case you were wondering, Panther RB Deshaun Foster is active.
12:17: Bill DE Chris Kelsay is inactive.
12:16: Also inactive for Miami is LB Channing Crowder.
12:14: Packer CB Charles Woodson is active. TE Bubba Franks is inactive.
12:12: Raider QB Josh McCown starts, Daunte Culpepper and JaMarcus Russell are inactive, so Andrew Walter is the backup.
12:11: Charger DE Shawn Merriman and C Nick Hardwick are active. KR Darren Sproles is inactive.
12:10: Bill RB Marshawn Lynch is active and expected to start. Look for RB Fred Jackson to get a healthy number of touches.
12:09: Dolphin RB Jesse Chatman is inactive, so Sam Gado starts with Lorenzo Booker likely in the mix as a receiver. WR Marty Booker is inactive, Derek Hagan starts for him.
12:07: All key Eagles, including QB Donovan McNabb, RB Brian Westbrook, and WR Kevin Curtis are active and in the starting lineup.
12:05: Giant RB Brandon Jacobs is active and expected to start, as is WR Plaxico Burress and TE Jeremy Shockey. LB Antonio Pierce is also active. S Gibril Wilson is inactive.
12:03: Texan RB Ron Dayne is active and will start.
12:02: Buc RB Michael Pittman is inactive, as is DE Greg Spires.
11:58: Titan DT Albert Haynesworth is active, good news for their defense. RB LenDale White is active. WR Brandon Jones is inactive.
11:57: Buc QB Jeff Garcia is active, but Luke McCown starts. We learned last week that McCown does not hurt WR Joey Galloway’s value, and in fact can help him.
Here is some news regarding some of the top players:
Ram QB Marc Bulger (concussion) has been ruled out of today’s game, so the team will turn to third-string QB. Berlin has a big arm, so if he has time to throw, he should take some shots down the field, but you have to lower expectations for the Rams receivers significantly. They should hand the ball off to Steven Jackson as often as possible.
Buc QB Jeff Garcia (back) did not participate in Friday’s practice as a precaution but he improved all week and has a chance to play today. It will be a game time decision this morning/afternoon. Luke McCown would get another start if Garcia can’t play.
Saint RB Reggie Bush (knee) has been officially ruled out for Monday night’s game. Aaron Stecker will start and get carries and receptions with Pierre Thomas (kidney, expected to play) also expected to get some carries. If the game is out of reach, Thomas could get a fair number of carries and he’s also an option when they are top of the goal, since he’s a bigger back. The matchup is good for both backs.
Bill RB Marshawn Lynch (ankle) practiced again Friday and took the majority of the first-team reps. It’s looking good for him to play today, but you should confirm him being active and in the starting lineup before starting him (we’ll have it online). Backup RB Fred Jackson would get another start if Lynch can’t play, and Jackson could take on much of the work load if Lynch is limited or if the game is out of reach in the second half.
Giant RB Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) practiced fully Friday and will test his hamstring on the field this morning to make sure he feels good enough to play. We’ll confirm his status online. If Jacobs can’t go, Reuben Droughns would be the starter.
Dolphin RB Jesse Chatman (ankle) took limited practice Friday, giving him a chance to play today, but he is officially a game time decision and he might not play. RB Sam Gado worked with the first team Thursday and would start if Chatman can’t play, so pick him up if you need a fill-in starter in case Chatman is ruled out. Rookie Lorenzo Booker would likely see action in passing situations if Chatman is out. RB Patrick Cobbs could also get some carries if Chatman is out.
Cardinal WR Anquan Boldin (dislocated toe) and WR Larry Fitzgerald (groin) are still both looking like game-time decisions. Fitzgerald definitely has a better chance to play than Boldin, and he’s in better shape today than he was last week, but he’s still not a 100% lock to play. If Boldin is out, Bryant Johnson would start. If Fitzgerald can’t play, either Johnson or backups Sean Morey and Jerheme Urban (heel) would be forced to start. Since it’s a 4pm game, we won’t likely know the statuses of the two WRs before the first kickoffs. Boldin is especially risky to start without knowing his official status.
Jet WR Laveranues Coles (ankle) was limited in practice again Friday, but he is expected to be active and in the starting lineup. We’ll confirm that online, but keep in mind he plays in a 4pm game, so you will not know for 100% sure he’s active by 1pm. WR Jerricho Cotchery (finger) missed practice again Friday and is doubtful to play.
Steeler WR Santonio Holmes (ankle) practiced fully again Friday and is expected to return to the starting lineup. If not, Nate Washington would start again.
Colt WR Marvin Harrison (knee) will not play. WR Anthony Gonzalez will continue to start for him.
Dolphin WR Marty Booker (knee) was limited in Friday’s practice and might not play. If not, WR Derek Hagan could fill in for him Sunday.
Raven TE Todd Heap (hamstring) likely won’t play. TE Daniel Wilcox (hip) is expected to split time with Quinn Sypniewski.
Titan DT Albert Haynesworth (hamstring) missed practice all week and will be a game time decision.
Steeler SS Troy Polamalu (knee) is not expected to play today.
Giant MLB Antonio Pierce (ankle) missed practice all week and will be a game time decision.
