2007 Fantasy Football – Week 2 Start and Bench List
by Chris Mooney
Here’s my Week 2 Start/Bench List:
Start ‘Em
QB – Brett Favre vs. NYG - Giants secondary is nothing special. With or without Greg Jennings, James Jones is coming on to compliment Driver.
RB – Adrian Peterson vs. Det - Chester Taylor injury only helps the Vikes make an esay decision to get this guy the rock.
RB – Maurice Jones-Drew vs. ATL - The Rook A. Peterson busted off a 100 yd. performance last week against the Falcons, Jones-Drew will continue.
WR – Javon Walker vs. Oak - Cutler is settling down and developing a nice rapport with Javon.
WR – Chris Chambers vs. DAL - Trent Green’s guy. People were down on Chambers going into the season, so he’ll be a pleasant surprise.
TE – Bo Sciafe vs. IND - Indy’s D played well last week, but they’ll give up yards to this Titan TE. He’s Vince Young’s go to guy.
K – Robbie Gould vs. KC - Grossman will move the the Bears offense, but they may stall in the red zone, which means lots of chances for Gould.
D – Green Bay vs. NYG – Giants offense played well last week, but reality will settle in this week against an aggressive Packers D whether Eli plays or not.
Bench ‘em
QB – Phillip Rivers vs. NE - You probably drafted Rivers as your starter, but NE’s D will give him fits. Don’t expect much.
RB – Ahman Green vs. CAR - Carolina’s front line will shut Green down. Go with another option if you have some RB depth.
RB – Derrick Ward vs. GB - Don’t get too excited that you got him on waivers and think he’ll repeat last week’s performance. GB’s run defense is a lot better than Dallas’.
WR – Ronald Curry vs. DEN – Congrats…you got Curry on waivers…Now promptly put him on your bench for Week 2. Champ Bailey can cover him with his eyes closed.
WR – Laveranues Coles vs. BAL - Pennington being out may be plus for the Jets, but not enough against the Ravens secondary.
TE – Tony Gonzalez vs. CHI - Bears D will play with a chip on their shoulders after losing to the Chargers last week.
K – Phil Dawson vs. CIN - The Browns will need more than field goals to beat the Bengals high powered offense. Heck they may not be able to get in field goal range with Derek Anderson at the helm and Jamal Lewis in the back field.
D – Detroit vs. MIN - I think the Vikes offense gets on track this week.
Week 2 Stud Pick
RB – Rudi Johnson vs. CLE

A couple spots that I am mulling over on my club this week is whether to start Favre over Bulger with STL facing a questionable SF defense.
I figure that Mike Furrey is an improvement over Isaac Bruce with the Pace injury.
Are Brandon Jackson and Ladell Betts worth starting in the flex spot this week?

The Giants secondary is not that great, but with that said, I like Bulger’s weapons better than Favre’s. To answer your question, though, I would still play Bulger for a couple of reasons..Better WR’s (Drew Bennett will be back). I know SF shut down the Arizona Pro Bowl WR’s last week, but there was a lot of rust out there for the first game.
Furrey and Bruce are probably pretty close, but I guess I’d give the edge to Furrey. The Lions will be throwing because Tatum Bell will not be able to run versus the Vikes run D.
Jackson maybe, but keep tabs on the return of Morency. At least Jackson is starting. Betts on the other hand, we know does not start, and Portis actually looked pretty good last. Betts is a better bet once Portis goes down with an injury mid season.
Are they your only choices for flex players?
