Player Newsby Chris Mooney

Some injury updates I’ve come across:

12:22: Bronco G Ben Hamilton is inactive, which does hurt their running game. Henry will be fine.
12:19: Not a good sign for him but WR Dwayne Jarrett is inactive. Shows how much they think of him.
12:16: RB Clinton Portis starts.
12:15: Dolphin RB Lorenzo Booker is inactive in case you care.
12:06: Ram WR Drew Bennett and G Richie Incognito are inactive.
12:00: Eagle TE L.J. Smith is active so it looks like he will play. He’s still a risky start however.
11:59: Confirmed on WR Greg Jennings. James Jones could do very well. RB Vernand Morency is inactive. Brandon Jackson starts.
11:58: Viking WR Bobby Wade is active. RB Mewelde Moore is inactive for some reason.
11:41: ESPN is reporting that WR Greg Jennings is inactive. James Jones would have to start.

Some non-injury player news:

Fox Sports’ John Czarnecki reports Denver Broncos CB Champ Bailey, who has 18 INTs the past two seasons, won’t be in man coverage against Bills WR Lee Evans, so look for Bills QB J.P. Losman to go to Evans whenever he is up against Fox Sports’ John Czarnecki reports Denver Broncos CB Champ Bailey, who has 18 INTs the past two seasons, won’t be in man coverage against Bills WR Lee Evans, so look for Bills QB J.P. Fox Sports’ John Czarnecki reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Ike Hilliard will start ahead of WR Maurice Stovall.

Contrary to an earlier report, WTEM reports Washington Redskins HC Joe Gibbs admitted that RB Ladell Betts could get more carries than starting RB Clinton Portis (knee) today against the Dolphins.

Fox Sports’ John Czarnecki reports when the Kansas City Chiefs visited Houston two seasons ago, RB Larry Johnson carried 36 times for a franchise-record 211 yards in a 42-14 rout of the Texans. Johnson, who had only three carries in the preseason as the Chiefs went winless, will start but HC Herman Edwards wants to limit his carries to about 20. The plan is to have RB Michael Bennett get between 10 and 15 carries. “It’s kind of ironic,” Edwards said of Johnson, who set a NFL record with 416 carries last season. “He’s back, signed a big contract, now he’s not going to get the ball as much. The first thing he’s going to do is come to my office after the third game and ask, ‘Why am I not getting the ball?’”
