Fantasy Football - Week 12 Sunday Morning Tidbits
by Chris Mooney
Check back throughout the morning for more up to the minute updates.
12:25: In case you were wondering, Bill RB Marshawn Lynch is inactive and Anthony Thomas does start.
12:24: The Redskins will be without starting RT Todd Wade, which won’t help their chances to throw the ball.
12:22: In case you were wondering, Giant WR Plaxico Burress is active.
12:21: Raider WR Jerry Porter is active. S Stuwart Schweigert is inactive.
12:14: A final word on RB Selvin Young this week. We really don’t know if he’ll play, and no one really does outside the team, but if you have to make a decision by 1pm, we would not use him over someone you know will play. One trend in Denver is guys who do not practice on Wed. and Thursday but do work out on Friday are usually inactive, and Andre Hall saw most of the reps with the first-team offense this week.
12:13: Giant RBs Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward are officially inactive. Reuben Droughns starts.
12:12: Viking CB Antoine Winfield is also inactive, good news for the Giant passing game.
12:11: Seahawk QB Matt Hasselbeck and WR D.J. Hackett are active and set to start.
12:10: As expected, WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh is active and set to start.
12:08: Great news for the Bengal offense: Titan DT Albert Haynesworth is inactive. That gives their passing game a better chance and they should have some success running it this week.
12:07: Redskin WRs Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El are active as expected.
12:06: As expected, Buc RB Michael Pittman is inactive, good news for Earnest Graham, who is active.
12:04: It’s confirmed: Viking RB Adrian Peterson is inactive. RB Chester Taylor starts and carries the load.
12:03: Brown CB Eric Wright is inactive, as expected.
12:00: CB Rashean Mathis is also inactive, great news for WR Lee Evans.
11:59: Panther CB Chris Gamble is also inactive, good news for the Saint passing game.
11:58: Texan RB Darius Walker is inactive, so it will be Ron Dayne starting with Joe Echemandu backing him up as the #3. RB Ahman Green is inactive.
11:48: Saint RB Reggie Bush is active and will start. Backups Aaron Stecker and possibly Pierre Thomas could get more touches than usual however 11:47: Bad news for WR Steve Smith: QB Vinny Testaverde is inactive. David Carr starts.
Here are some updates since Friday.
- Eagle QB Donovan McNabb (ankle/thumb) was downgraded to out, so he will not play. Backup A.J. Feeley will start.

- Panther QB Vinny Testaverde was able to practice no problems on Friday. However, he woke up Saturday with a stiff back, and his status this week is in doubt. He’s at least at home today, which helps, since he didn’t have to travel. He’ll see how he feels on the field today pre-game and will have his status determined then. If he can’t play, the team will have to start David Carr, which would severely hurt WR Steve Smith’s chances tomorrow.
- Viking RB Adrian Peterson (knee) was upgraded to questionable Friday, increasing the chances that he might actually play today. But since he did not practice all week, don’t expect much from Peterson, who might come out and test his knee pre-game. Chester Taylor will likely have to carry the load, but we’ll have Peterson’s official status online around 12-12:15.
- Saint RB Reggie Bush (shin) missed practice on Friday, but he was able to do some things on Wednesday and Thursday, so he should be able to play. We’ll have his official status online as well. If he can’t play, the workload would be divided between Aaron Stecker and rookie Pierre Thomas.
- Bronco RB Travis Henry (knee) will not play today, so the question is: will Selvin Young? Young (knee) practiced on Friday on a limited basis, which should give him a good chance to play, but since they moved this game to 4pm, we won’t know for sure until after the 1pm kickoff. If you can swap Young out later today if he’s ruled out, RB Andre Hall would be the guy, since he’s would start and will be backed up by FB Mike Bell. FB Cecil Sapp would be in that mix as well.
- Dolphin RB Jesse Chatman (ankle) was very limited in practice all well, so he is at best a game time decision for Monday. If he’s out, the team will likely use a committee with Patrick Cobbs and Ricky Williams, who practiced all week and looked good. Cobbs took in the majority of the work for Chatman this week and has been the #2 for weeks behind Chatman. We really don’t know what to expect from Williams, but he will definitely play, and he could play a lot if Chatman is out. If Chatman is out, however, we’d have to lean to Cobbs getting the official start, but if Williams does well, he could literally take the ball and run with it and get the bulk of the carries.
- In case you were still wondering, Giant RBs Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward will not play today. RB Reuben Droughns will start and backups Ahmad Bradshaw and new hire Patrick Pass will be in the mix behind Droughns.
- Bronco WR Javon Walker (knee) took in limited work in Friday’s practice and is still expected to play today. He is a little risky in his first game back, and we will not know if he’s officially active until right before kickoff (and it’s a late game).
- Raven TE Todd Heap (hamstring) is not expected to play. TE Quinn Sypniewski will fill in again.
Quarterbacks
- Seahawk QB Matt Hasselbeck (ribs) was able to practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game but he’s expected to play.
Running Backs
- Buc RB Earnest Graham (ankle) practiced Friday and is probable for Sunday’s game. RB Michael Pittman (ankle) is doubtful to play after re-injuring his ankle in last week’s game.
- Panther RB DeShaun Foster (toe) practiced fully again on Friday and is expected to start. He’s listed as probable.
- Eagle RB Brian Westbrook (knee) practiced all week and was removed from the injury report.
- 49er RB Frank Gore (ankle) practiced Friday and is probable for Sunday’s game.
- Jaguar RB Fred Taylor (thigh) was limited early in the week, but he practiced normally on Friday and is expected to start.
Receivers
- Bear WR Bernard Berrian (toe) was able to practice Friday and is probable for Sunday’s game.
- Bengal WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (back) was able to practice Friday and is probable for Sunday’s game. Barring a pre-game setback, he’s expected to start and play his usual role.
- Panther WR Steve Smith (shin) practiced all week and was removed from the injury report so he’s ready to go.
- Giant WR Plaxico Burress (ankle) missed practice all week and is listed as questionable. He said he likely won’t practice much the rest of the season but doesn’t expect to miss any games.
- Eagle WR Kevin Curtis (thigh) was added to the injury report, but he practiced on Friday and is expected to start.
- Jaguar WR Reggie Williams (back) didn’t practice Friday and was added to the injury report as questionable for Sunday’s game.
- Raider WR Jerry Porter (knee) was able to practice Friday and is probable for Sunday’s game.
- Buc WR Michael Clayton (ankle) practiced again Friday and should play his normal role as the #3.
