My thoughtsby Chris Mooney

Ok, I know…It’s only been two weeks and anything can happen over the next 15, but since I’ve watched a lot of games last week and this week (thanks to the NFL Ticket), I’m starting to notice or at least question a few things. As I sit watching the Chargers/Pats game, here are 10 things on my mind:

1. What is going on with the Saints offense? I can’t imagine this offense struggling over the rest of the season, but I’m sure there are a lot of upset owners who drafted Reggie Bush in the 1st round and are not getting 1st round returns.

2. The Houston Texans are for real. I drafted Andre Johnson Johnson in 6 out of eight of my leagues and drafted Matt Schaub as my backup in every league. Johnson is putting up some gaudy numbers and I think will end up in the top 5 in WR fantasy scoring.

3. Larry Johnson will not be in the top 5 in RB fantasy scoring. I am aware that his holdout may have a little to do with his performance, but I think the current QB situation has more to do with it. Huard is not the answer. On top of that, KC’s schedule is tough. The next two games are with Minnesota and San Diego.

4. I have Laurence Maroney in a 10 team league where I picked 10th. I took Rudi Johnson 10th, then came back with Laurence Maroney. I’m sitting here watching the Pats/Chargers game, coupling that with last week’s Pats game, I’m wondering if I should have picked Peyton Manning or a WR like Steve Smith instead of Maroney. After Dillon left, I was hoping Maroney would get the rock as much as Jospeh Addai (after Dominics Rhodes departure). What’s up with losing carries to Sammy Morris?

5. Lee Evans is overrated. It’s not all his fault, though. Their offense is terrible. Is it Losman? The O-line? A combination? Who knows. All I know is I drafted him as my #2 WR in one of my leagues and he’s given me almost nothing in return. I know he’s gone up against two tough D’s, but come on….2 catches in Week 1 and 2 catches in Week 2. Guess what….New England is up next.

6. While Evans was drafted too high, on the flip side, Chris Chambers was drafted too low. If it weren’t for LaMont Jordan, Chambers would be my pick for the steal of a lot of drafts. I bet he’ll score more fantasy points than Lee Evans.

7. Why is Stephen Jackson not being utlized as a receiver like he was last year? He’s another that has been disappointing thus far.

8. Randy Moss is the real deal. Maybe it’s just a matter of time before he implodes, but he’s looking good out there so far. He just looks like he has more pep in his step. Huge difference between this year and last year. He’ll definately finish in the top 10 in WR fantasy scoring. I wouldn’t be surprised if he finishes in the top 5 though.

9. LaMont Jordan could end up being the steal in many fantasy football drafts. He’s going to make the coaches decision a tough one when Dominic Rhodes gets back. If he keeps running and catching like he does, it may not be a tough decision at all. Rhodes may end up in the same role he was in with the Colts….a change of pace back.

hold on….yep..there goes one more TD catch for Moss….

10. Maurice Jones-Drew did not deserve to be drafted as high as he was. Yes he had a great year or even an exception year last year, but the Jags offense just isn’t consistent enough and Jones-Drew is still splitting carries with Fred Taylor.

Feel free to add to the list……
